A sports bar was an inevitable step in Prospect Heights’ gentrification process, so it’s nice to see it’s been done well. Yeah, the easygoing Plan B (no relation to the East Village bar of the same name) doesn’t knock your socks off, but it doesn’t intend to, either. It’s a small space, with a dining area in back, along with high tables in the front offering a view, through glass front doors, of a near-bustling Vanderbilt Avenue. The best seats in the house are probably the bar stools, where two of the bar’s five HD screens are just inches from your face. The menu distinguishes itself with apps like veggie kabobs and teriyaki potstickers, along with an inside-out burger (the cheese is stuffed in the patty!) and a solid brunch deal: Most dishes are under nine bucks, while mimosas and Blood Marys clock in at $6 and $7, respectively. Just be aware that during football season, Sundays are the domain of passionate, but polite, fans in full regalia.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
