Profile

Though ostensibly a sports bar, Players does double duty as a restaurant and lounge, with three reservable karaoke rooms thrown in to boot. The interior is more stylish than one would expect from the second floor of a Koreatown office building. Copper and stone cover trapezoidal columns behind a serpentine bar. Colored lights add a theatrical effect, reinforced by the stage-like rise that holds three rows of tables. The seats are filled by an attractive, young crowd that look as familiar with Luncheon as they do with Manhattan. The limited restaurant menu favors a Seoul-ful take on bar food highlighted by the chicken wings and sushi rolls. The cocktail menu also reflects a Korean palate, with lychee and pineapple among the soju infusions. A Far Eastern pop soundtrack, which occasionally dips into the dubious genre of Asian rap, reverberates through the room. As for sports, a handful of televisions are deployed in strategic locations, more an afterthought than an essential attraction.
