To fight Park Avenue South’s fickle turnover rate and capitalize on its corporate tendencies, Matt Wagman and Dan Lynch, the brains behind downtown standbys Tribe, Vig Bar, Vig 27, The Volstead, and the former Punch & Judy, created a spacious multipurpose venue that is a bar first and foremost, then a restaurant and a lounge. The 32-foot front bar’s masculine stool-and-plasma scene is backed by a more demure candlelit space with intimately situated leather banquettes, luring in equal measure power-lunching young suits, Monday Night Football fans, and late-night junior socialites thankful for the D.J.’s mix of classic rock, eighties pop, and nineties hip-hop. Small plates of mini-tilapia fish tacos, short-rib nachos, and boneless buffalo wings on Popsicle sticks are made for sharing, as are the economical "bottle cocktails"—fresh, handmade mixed drinks that serve four to eight and arrive accompanied by an ice bucket and glassware.
