Columns painted red, white, and blue and a humongous American flag are the signatures of this super-pub. And that American spirit of excess is apparent, too, in a wraparound bar—long enough for an F-47 take off—and hulking amber lighting fixtures giving the cavernous brick-walled space the feel of a train station. (Frustratingly, the place has waiting-room acoustics as well, making it necessary to shout, Paul Revere–style, whether you’re sitting at an ample U-booth or in the upstairs mezzanine.) The menu is equally patriotic with standards like nachos and cheeseburgers. If the gigantic bar disappointingly gets no more exotic than Smirnoff Source and Napa Valley wines, hey, you can love it or leave it! — Daniel Maurer
