Like many in Jackson Heights, Lidia’s is new in town, at least compared to the surrounding gay clubs that have been open for a decade and more. The bar is small, but extends deep into the back of the building past a small makeshift dance floor and tiny lofted DJ booth. The burgundy walls, four leather cube stools and an optimistic cherry-stained wood décor lend the feel of Chelsea circa 2000. At the same time, the thump of house, vintage disco and Latino pop, the bilingual chatter of gay men and the deliciously mirrored walls collectively speak the lingua franca of Queens.
