Whether or not it's a DJ spinning 4A.D. records for still-dreary-after-all-these-years Goths, the Raven's patrons tend to be deadly earnest. True, some performances are really quite good; most are more unbearable than they should be, however, precisely because everyone takes themselves, and their Art, a little too seriously. During the day, the Raven's couches and sunlit windows make for a comfortable, if collegiate-feeling, cup of coffee. — Jenifer Van Vleck
