Redemption is a spacious bar divided into several zones: the working class front room, equipped with sturdy wooden bar stools and high tables; the glitzier back lounge, with wall-length beige couches; and the decadent all-white room, which comes off as a place where Tony Montana would feel at home. Of course, this being Midtown East, the crowd is less drug-addled mobsters and more buttoned-up young professionals, enjoying the requisite theme nights and vodka specials. A hearty pick-up scene flourishes thanks to the Top 40 D.J. and the lounge area’s dance floor. The tap list is par for the course (Stella, Sam Adams, Guinness) and the cocktails a bit goofy (Crimson Crush and Love Potion). Meanwhile, the kitchen serves up standard bar fare, along with a few Asian-inspired extras like edamame and shrimp tempura.
