The off-duty firemen and laborers who hang ten inside of this freestanding panel house are more likely to surf channels for the Rangers game (nearly every table is equipped with a miniature plasma screen) than ride the waves; nonetheless surf boards and buoys netted against the walls make this pitched-roof shack near Rockaway Beach the closest thing the city has to a genuine surf club. On a docklike back deck that's occasionally enlivened by a steel-drum band, a thatch tiki bar turns out pints of frozen margaritas, lobster rolls held together by American flag toothpicks, and shrimp and burgers off the grill. The eclectic programming ranges from ventriloquists to cover bands like Alive 'N Kickin' (apparently known for its number one hit single "Tighter and Tighter"), but the real draw is a view of Jamaica Bay and the looming Cross Bay Bridge that makes one want to fish for striper rather than for that nearby MILF's phone number. Should you actually catch the impulse, there's a bait shop right next door.

WASTE OF TIME

The place is nice for sunset view but ruined by the bad service and quality of food. Noone come to attend you to table and customers ended up waiting like idiots whereas someone come later got the table before you.The servers always outsmart you about the proper knowledge of food. They can't reckon as simple as tartar sauce till you gotta get yourself at the kitchen. Forget the cocktail. Wasted time and money.

If I could give this a negative rating I would.

do not go here at all costs! My original review as I was at the "restaurant" was more apt. Service is bad. Food is from canned sources. I wish I could throw up on myself to relieve myself of the Van de Kamp frozen food I was served. Quite honestly, unless it's beers (and only beers - do not order "cocktails") that you're looking for, the McDonald's will serve up much finer Freedom Fries. Also NOTE: they do not have lobster rolls or shrimp burgers. Actually, the waitress did not know what a lobster roll was.
