Tequila and its smoky cousin mezcal are the central focus of this dark, wooden, Zorro-appropriate bar. Don’t worry about writing that down; the bar won’t let you forget it. Tequila is everywhere—Tequilaria is even painted in large faded letters on one brick wall. There is, of course a list of à la carte tequilas and mezcals, which ranges from the rock-and-roll Cabo Wabo to high-end, barrel-aged mezcals, but the tequila- and mezcal-only cocktails, all made to order with fresh produce, are the main attraction. Drinks like the tart and aromatic Que Hongo (made with a young mezcal, cilantro, guava, lime juice, agave syrup) and the Bolero Rosarito (made with mezcal, jalapeno, pineapple, lim agave) leave you feeling like you’ve done your body good while getting your buzz on. Sea-sourced snacks from the attached fish shack provide a savory foil for the primarily fruit-based cocktails.
