After relocating Paris Commune to new digs, the restaurant celebrated the one-year anniversary of its buzzing new dining room by opening this subterranean annex. Under an antiqued, mirrored ceiling, a small dark wood bar and some red velvet banquettes set off the room’s pièce de résistance—a vivid mural of cancan dancers designed by fashion illustrator Bill Rancitelli. (In true insider style, the artist worked likenesses of Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs into his painting.) As a nod to the French cuisine served upstairs, the wine list features primarily French pours as well as varietals from at least 15 countries such as Germany, Chile, and South Africa. Delectably rich desserts, such as pot de chocolat, will further tempt sweet lovers.
