Profile

Camouflaged by its corner apartment digs, this beautiful hideaway comes to life with a laid-back, stylish crowd and owner Benjamin Shih's attention to crisply evocative details. Shih, the bartender who opened the neighborhood's popular Sweet Ups, draws on his first location's understated romantic look, using glossy, voluptuous oxblood banquettes and white-on-chocolate flocked velvet walls. The knowing charm extends into the large, Paris-in-the-'20s-flavored back room—updated with DJs, rock bands and weekly karaoke nights—and the walled-off, group-friendly alcove with a wraparound banquette. The bar's fans are pure, scruffy Williamsburg, and the drinks, including a delicious Bramble with fresh berries, are Brooklyn-priced.

NOT a dance party

I went here last night expecting to dance and was sadly disappointed. The DJ had NO dance music on his computer. No hip hop, no R&B, no 80's, no pop, no nothing. What he did have was a bevy of lame excuses such as "it's my first night", and "its early". I even called ahead of time and asked what kind of music they would be playing and the bartender told me "fun dance music and old school hip hop". Not the case. The drinks were good, the staff was nice (except the DJ), and the crowd was eh. If you want to dance go elsewhere.

Lots of Fun, great/diverse scene

What a time some friends and I had here. After a night of BK bar-hopping, this was definitely the apex of it all. The DJ kept the dancing alive, the dancers itself were from all over and covered all the young demographics (well at least the hip ones). The service would good, the fusbol was better, and that Bramble drink is delicious and worth trying.
