Though it offers food, Shag isn't exactly a restaurant. Aside from a few entrees, the dishes are typical bar fare, albeit done a bit more upscale, and they're served tapas-style. But though it offers drinks—quite a few of them, in fact, including 13 martini varieties ($8 and up) and hard-to-find cocktails—it's not exactly a bar either due to the restaurant-like table arrangements, the silverware, and the constant aroma of cooking. Yet when it comes to the decor, Shag isn't confused at all: it aspires to nothing less than an un-used set from one of the Austin Powers flicks, complete with (yes) white shag carpeting on the walls, white pleather banquettes, orange curvilinear chairs, and a disco ball hanging in the center of the ceiling. If that's your bag, you'll find this place quite "shagilicious"; if not, it still makes for a fine pit stop during a night out on the town--especially if you have the munchies.

Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
