Sing-Sing is one of the East Village’s classic Karaoke dives, so its frills free look feels fitting: a few strands of Christmas lights greet you in the bare-bones, narrow main bar space, while fifteen smallish private rooms are located in back. It costs $8 per person per hour to rent out the rooms, which are each equipped with two mics, a big flat-screen, and saran-wrapped song-books. The rooms are a bit shabby—some of the booths are ripped up—but the target demographic here isn’t sober enough to notice that type of thing.
