Profile

Like playing games with your date? Well, whether you're looking to work through dominance issues or you just want to meet up with friends to shoot some pool, this is the best billiard joint in Chelsea. Though it's not the cheapest place to rack 'em up, this well-lit bi-level pool hall maintains its tables beautifully. And unlike with many of its competitors, there's more than enough room between the tables: You'll actually spend more time between shots conversing with your own group than enduring the inevitable drama at nearby tables. There's also food available in the attractive upstairs dining room.

I have been to Slate for drinks several times. Last night was the first time I tried there food and I was extremely impressed. Everything came out with large portions which was great for sharing with my group and the food tasted fresh and hot out of the oven! i will def. be back to drink and eat again.

Best Pool and Music Combination

Indus from | Posted on 5/8/03

Overall Rating: 106 (Mixed Reviews)

This trendy pool place is laid back, comes complete with a restaurant, a bar, a lounge area (with, get this, a cool sofa that looks like a pool table!)and in the center of it all, the billiard tables. Its not a very serious pool hall and you get the feeling like you're just part of the background, serving as entertainment for the swanky, plush, albeit small lounge. The drinks are much too pricy, but I have to admit that the DJ at this place was one of the best club DJs I have heard, dishing out some very sharp trance/techno/ambient music giving the place its mood. But even for a lounge lizard like me, when I feel upto pool, I like going somewhere with a bigger focus on the pool, and cheaper drinks.
