Make it through the shaky, anxiety-inducing elevator ride to the top floor of a nondescript K Town office building and you'll be pleasantly surprised. Despite a name befitting a Tracy Jordan rant, Space Billiards is a clean, spacious, and quiet pool hall. The clandestine location (you'd truly never find the place if you weren't looking for it) keeps out those who aren't serious about billiards, which leaves a predominantly male clientele too focused on the game to produce the requisite bar noise. Upbeat techno played at low decibels fills in the silence, along with the sound of a cue stick hitting an 8 ball. The bar stocks inexpensive beers (Heineken, Corona), sake, coffee, Snickers, potato chips, ramen, and imported Asian chips and sweets to raise players' energy levels: Games go round the 24-hour clock. The space is carpeted and painted, decorated only by a few fake plants and glowing beer logos, but don’t be intimidated by the dour mood: The bar serves as one awesomely bizarre rendezvous spot.

Pool tables cost $10 for half an hour, $17/hr for up to four people Sun-Thu, $19/hr for up to four people Fri-Sat
