On a dismal block where Court Street ends near the BQE, Sparky's Ale House is an inviting sight. Especially if you're a dog. Or have one. One of the most canine-friendly bars around, Sparky's is not only named after a dog, but also has a yearly "Dogs of Sparky's" calendar starring the dozen or so regulars who make the cut. Human regulars pack the place too, drawn largely by its forest of about thirty beer taps, with hand-pump beers also available (no liquor, though). Other big draws are a jukebox packed with '80s hits, the charming strong-but-silent-type bartender and a pool table. But beware: If your dog chews a cue, you're both tossed.
ExtraPut yourself on the waiting list for a coveted spot in the Mug Club: For a yearly fee of $50, you can store your own 20-ounce mug behind the bar and get it filled on the cheap whenever you come.

Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
