2 St Marks Pl,
New York, NY 10003

If you secretly pine for the sundry joys of grizzly, Minnesota-winter-style heavy drinking, this sports bar on St. Marks' main drag is your salvation. A drab main room has large tables for up to six, not a bad place to stare at the TV-bedecked walls while scarfing ESPN-appropriate burgers, nachos, and the like. The tap list boasts a well-advertised 24 beers, split between domestics (Sam Adams, Magic Hat #9) and imported (Newcastle Brown Ale). Framed jerseys and sports memorabilia are the only decorative touches, aside from the life-size his-and-hers cutouts of Marilyn Monroe and James Dean on the restroom doors. Games are politely muted to better broadcast Jock Rock and mid-nineties hits. Listen closely, and you might hear a hardened drinker reminiscing about Bobby Jackson and the halcyon days of the University of Minnesota Gophers.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
