The forced dive aesthetic is a bit stale here, but the drink menu—seventeen draught beers, a cask-ale engine, and over 40 specialty bottles—makes the Stanton Public a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The boozy Bowery crowd is a lively mixture of locals, beer geeks, and women who enjoy drinking serious beer out of said serious beer’s individually intended beer glass. There’s also an outdoor garden and flat-screen that play black-and-white classics and wacky animation. One caveat: Beware of raucous parties taking advantage of the “bring ten people and drink for free” birthday special.
