On the twentieth floor of Hotel on Rivington, this two-story private event lounge provides unexpected solitude along with great views. The first level, with small, crescent-shaped leather benches and marble tables, houses the bar. Climb the steep stairs to the roof deck and you’ll be greeted by predominately wooden décor: big chairs and benches. Although the deck is an excellent vantage point for the Empire State Building and the sunset, visit the more bustling Thor or Levant East downstairs if you fancy people in numbers. Expensive cocktails ($12-$18), a brief wine list, and no beer to speak of round out the scene. — Antonia Clark
