Formerly called Sutton Place, this bar should not be confused with the classically elegant neighborhood just a few blocks away. The utilitarian nature of this space—drink, mingle, watch the game—is echoed in its unimaginative décor, which features unfortunate flourishes of plastic ivy as a highlight. What Midtown 1015 lacks in character, it makes up for in space. It boasts three floors, each with its own bar, including a rooftop drinking and dining area that can seat scores of loitering Sunday morning brunchers. Like many of its East side brethren, this bar’s roomy layout and numerous well-placed televisions attract the masses during daytime sports matches, so downtime at this joint seems few and far between.
