Though the all-white back room is, alas, no more, SX 137, conceived by Harry Allen, who designed Soho shelter boutique Moss, still features a black rubber bar and fun, shiny flip-up cocktail tables—plus dope DJ's nightly (the urban-style magazine Fader was having a party there the night we stopped by). Special cocktails nod to downtown street names, like the one-of-a-kind Katherine Kiwi, an interesting blend of rare Chardonnay-infused vodka, kiwi purée, and simple syrup, served, of course, with a slice of kiwi.

The art at SX 137 is for sale, and one quarter of the proceeds go to the nearby Stanton Street Settlement.

I planned a birthday party at SX 137 last Friday night- it was great! The back room was all ours and the busboy was very helpful with the cake. It was the easiest party I ever put together thanks to the helpful and accessible owner. The only problem was having just one bartender at the only bar and no cocktail waiters/waitresses in the back. And they don't make the fun cocktails everyone raves about anymore either! Easier access to drinks would make it the perfect bar. But, the djs were excellent- a great mix of old-school, house and r&b. And the bar was packed late into the night with a very cool, eclectic group of people. The party lasted early into the next morning... I definately recommend this place for any occasion.
