Tenth Street Lounge opened its doors back in 1992, when "East Village nightlife" meant 24-hour Ukrainian diners and the sleaziest of dive bars. A decade later, it still attracts a stylish midweek crowd, who recline in the leather club chairs sipping martinis mixed to perfection. With its high ceilings, the cavernous space can be a nice alternative to the cramped, noisy spots nearby. What's more, the tall votive candles along each wall make everyone in the room look flawless—which seems to be a major draw for the scary weekend encroachers, cruising for next week's date.
