Paul Grieco and Marco Canora’s third installment of this popular, Italian-slanted wine bar fills a much needed niche along this strip of the Murray Hill drinking scene known primarily for its roving packs of aftershave-spiced undergrads. Terroir’s exposed brick walls and stool high communal tables offer a pleasant enough environment—even if a bit of a wine bar cliché—to educate a curious palate. In fact, this is just the place for late twenty-somethings looking to expand their horizon beyond Guinness and Jameson shots. The laid back, yet enthusiastic staff works the informed-though-not-pretentious line seamlessly while the kitchen doles out quality nibbles (meatballs, charcuterie). Given the vibe of accessibility, don’t be too surprised to hear wine snobs balk, just sit back and enjoy watching them voice their pretensions to the bartender with RIESLING tattooed across her arm.
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
