Formerly Under the Volcano, the Archive boasts a subdued, refreshingly simple interior with muted walls, bare tree limbs, a few strands of Christmas lights, some black and white photos, and a few staid knick-knacks tucked away on the shelves. More notably: not a single Knicks mug, sweaty Islanders mitt, neon tube, or flat screen. The drinks menu plays it safe with tried-and-true cocktails and standard wines, while the food menu is a little more typical the neighborhood, with nachos, empanadas, and quesadillas (the homemade sour cream is a nice touch). The crowd is also par for the course for Murray Hill, with your school’s Greek system well represented.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
