Gutter has converted its sizable storage room into a spacious lair for live shows, DJ nights, movie screenings, stand-up comedy, and whatever else strikes the management’s fancy. One night might have a country act taking advantage of the space’s lush sound system to play Johnny Cash updates, while the next might bring in football fanatics looking to catch a game on the 11-foot projection screen. Either way, people will be thirsty. Fortunately, the drink selection here is mostly identical to the wide-ranging one in the main room, though the bar itself boasts the shiny polish of a Midtown Manhattan cocktail joint – a far cry from the decidedly dingy, beer-splattered digs out front. — Ray Rahman
