Profile

The Perfect Pint, a confused Irish pub in midtown, is caught somewhere between sports bar and tourist trap, with stray hints of lounge mixed in. The exterior is typical of Times Square kitsch: a massive pint glass looms over the door, and wild-eyed leprechauns assure pedestrians of the bar’s Celtic pedigree. Inside, the bar is a little too sleek: Marble details creep up the sides of the bar, and inlaid lighting twinkles in the ceiling panels. The bar does have at least 30 things going for it: There are that many drafts on tap, including a few varieties of Sam Adams, Chimay, and Pilsner Urquell. Along with heaping portions of corny Irish blessings, the menu features some pretty pricey pub fareóburgers, fried appetizers, sandwiches, bangers and mash, fish and chips, and, of course, the traditional Leprechaun Lamb Stew. The bar features both English Premier League games as well as the NFL, depending on the prevailing definition of "football" that day.
