Profile

Another day, another spacious East Side sports bar: Say hello to the Stumble Inn, where Danny Thomas (Down the Hatch, Off the Wagon, Jake’s Dilemma) has scored another sloshy hit. Beyond serving a decent selection of starchy food (including a bacon-stuffed burger), Stumble Inn’s prime selling point is what could be the most generous six-day-a-week happy hour on the island: The whole bar is half price until seven. The after-work crowd abides, packing the Inn’s generous space with whooping suits, popped-collar flip-floppers, and old-school white hairs; stray near-hipsters may even slither in on occasion to feed their secret sports addictions on Stumble’s many flat-screens. For those looking for a more intimate celebration, the adjoining Havana Room hosts private parties in a space that needs only the requisite cigar smoke to live up to its name. Stumble also offers organized beer pong tourneys complete with sign-up board and a rules-and-regulations placard, for those underdeveloped alcoholics.

Horrible Experience at The Stumble Inn

BarReview from 10023 | Posted on 7/20/09

Overall Rating: 1 (Not Recommended)

I had an absolutely terrible experience with a security guard at The Stumble Inn. His behavior was completely unacceptable and disrespectful. I am in the media industry and attend many events at locations all over the city (mostly nicer venues, this is just a dive bar) and have never been treated this way in my life. Considering many of their clientele are probably underage, they need to train their employees to handle their paying/legal customers appropriately (note: we had a private group of 50+ in their party room before the incident). I am still completely mortified and upset by this particular doorman's offensive behavior and expect actions to be taken by the owners. The private party room was a good space – clean, large, good bar, etc. so I do hope management can work out the issues with their security staff. Until this happens, I will not be back and will make sure we do not schedule events here again.
