Roosting so high up on Rockefeller Center that it actually gets its own weather systems (mist, occasional hail), the event space Weather Room flattens the city into a patchwork carpet of blocks threaded with shimmering lights. A tourist destination by day, the venue rents out at night as a blank canvas for any private function. You can deck it out with furniture, mood lighting, and food from any of the several catering companies that the Rock does business with. Up to 300 people fit into the large inside room and on twin outdoor terraces; choose your guest list carefully, however, as you’ll practically be paying two years' worth of college tuition for one night. — John Metcalfe
