Profile

Just east of Union Square, this gin joint is half British pub, half sports bar. The roomy space and classical décor—herringbone floors, tin ceilings—give the spot a bistro-y feel, though a quick glance would suggest the crowd is more interested in the TV on the wall than the carefully crafted gin selection. The NoMad’s Dominic Venegas is behind the cocktail menu, which features 10 different varieties of gin and tonics, with everything from Ford’s Gin (“fresh citrus with a touch of coriander and ginger to help the gin shine”), Beefeater 24 Gin (almond, grapefruit peel, and green tea) and the Dorothy Parker Gin (dark hibiscus with subtle citrus and spice). The bar offers rare gins from around the world, as well as 20 different British beers on tap. If your stomach is rumbling, the selection of English bar food is more than satisfactory, with a variety of crumpets, pickles, and cheese and charcuterie boards to choose from. – Erica Schwiegershausen
