The Soho original "the Room" is a shout-your-order scene, but the otheroom's dark and sexy dimensions attract a more relaxed crowd—from far West Village locals exploring the list of 60 beers, to still-sober scenesters staging for wilder happenings in the Meatpacking District, to oenophiles seeking a decent Riesling. Low lighting, punctuated by stout candles, glances off the brick walls and plush, upholstered bar stools, allowing one to scan the chalkboard to the left of the bar before committing to the standard order—there's a good mix of old and new world wines, and ten draft beers ranging from Brooklyn Sixpoint to Chimay. Though the crowd is welcoming and friendly bartenders will never force you to mime for your order, martini fiends won’t find a home here—it's beer and wine only.
