Neither a polished theme park nor a puke-proofed blarney trough, Tír Na Nóg ("Land of Eternal Youth") transcends its ye olde trappings to provide a casual, civil refuge. The 24 tap, single-malt, speed rack-equipped bar was once a church pipe organ; like everything else here, it has the faded luster of a sentimentally valued antique. Mammoth picture windows offer a view of the Penn Plaza building—and perfectly block out the Empire State—without disturbing the bar's cozy, perpetually dusky atmosphere. The bar menu leans toward ale-mopping grub like Scotch eggs and sausage rolls, but at lunch and dinner chef Matthew Geraghty cooks seafood with an imaginative touch unequaled in pub circles.
