Profile

The large, silly elephant head looming over the entranceway to the Watering Hole sets the tone here: The former Tracy J’s is now a big, fun bar. It’s outfitted with nods to the city’s past—photos of Joe DiMaggio, old playbills, stills from Breakfast at Tiffany's—as well as huge mirrors, wrought iron chandeliers, and exposed brick columns, but its most memorable asset is its vibrant karaoke scene. To wit, every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night, Broadway never-wills and drunken NYU students alike screech Journey and Toto alongside corporate mixers and bachelorette partiers among the booths and tables of the back-room dining area. That said, the menu is no afterthought, ranging from quesadillas to popcorn shrimp to blackened Norwegian salmon. But your best food bet is most definitely happy hour—free wings and fries for four hours a day, five days a week.

Yeah, I concur, this place blows!

It USED to be great. I don't know what the write up is talking about. All the charm is GONE. It's way too trendy for it's own good, all the way down to being rude and kicking out random patrons for no good explainable reason. All the cool waitresses and bartenders are gone, so is the rockin' DJs who KNEW what proper rotation was. I'd say the best part of this place is the doorway, seen from the inside because most likely you're walking out and never coming back! 100% horrible. We miss you Art.

No-name brunette will have you kicked out!

This place used to be excellent (when it was TracyJ's). However, we quickly found out differently! My girlfriend grabbed us each a drink and we watched Karaoke (which was actually kind of fun) and seat at the bar became available. We asked the guy next to us if he knew anyone sitting here, he said no. My girlfriend sat down. But, there was a jacket on the chair. Some random lady came back ten minutes later and told my girlfriend to get up; she didn't ask at all. We told her that we didn't know anyone was sitting there. She then said she would have us kicked out. I told my girlfriend to get up and as she did the woman waved over the bouncer. This all happened within a matter of minutes. The lady must have had some connection because we were told to leave. When I asked why, no one could give me any answers. Not to mention the bouncer treated us as if we caused a real problem. Overall, we were kicked out of not just the seat but the entire bar, and rudely. At TWH you practically have to walk on broken glass.
