Profile

Named after the eastside sub-neighborhood that spans from 42nd to 53rd, this bi-level affair buzzes every night of the week with drink, food, and prix-fixe specials. Casually dressed 20- and 30-something professionals meet in the downstairs pub for good deals on draft beer or in the upstairs lounge for competent takes on pub grub like gingered shrimp quesadilla, roasted salmon, pizza, or a burger. Despite the stiff, glossy banquettes, the mood downstairs is warm: oak floors, exposed brick, and dim lighting. The upstairs lounge, which is open Tuesday through Saturday nights, offers a more upscale feel with its high ceilings, balcony, and, most impressively, a working fireplace. If that sounds sophisticated, don't get excited: Friday nights Turtle Bay does ladies' night like the best (or worst) of them.

Skanky bar!

Last night was my first time at Turtle Bay and definitely my last time! If your looking for mean, drunk kids this is your place. I actually thought the bouncers were quite friendly and helpful since after we left, about 15 minutes after getting there, they had some suggestions for some better bars in the area. If your looking for a certain type of low scale people and are up on your fighting skills - Turtle bay is your place

Bigoted, trashy bar

This bar has rude, bigoted bouncers that discriminate patrons based on sexual orientation. Google "nick adams turtle bay" to read about it. The place is totally trashy, so I don't know why any respecting New Yorker would go here in the first place.
