This no-fuss, 30-seat operation in the East Village specializes in three things: oysters, beer, and whiskey cake. Exposed brick and reclaimed wood dominate the room accented with old-school tie-ins, like the diner-like silver tins holding pencils and paper, DIY oyster menus, and the hanging chalk board listing the weekly (sometimes daily) rotating selection of East and West coast mollusk varieties ($2.50-$3/pc). Eight tap lines convey brews like Peak Organic Winter Session and Coney Island Mermaid Pilsner, and on the menu you’ll find eight hand-picked-to-match-the-food wines by-the-glass ($10-$12). In addition to the oysters, they shell out littleneck clams, mussels, and daily delivered seafood specials like Wild Sockeye salmon and scallops. Open "until close," there's a limited late-night menu starting at midnight with (at least) the raw bar, charcuterie and cheese, and, of course, their secret-weapon whiskey cake, wonderfully fluffy and flavorful.
