Profile

According to owner Frederick Twomey, the new iteration of Bar Veloce in Nolita aims to be more of a destination than a pit stop (due to its somewhat tucked-away location). To that end, Persian rugs, leather booths, and even leatherette-topped tables have been brought in. Yes, he was aiming to create a “clubby hideaway,” but Twomey assures us, “I don’t want to play the game of members-only.” After 6 p.m., anyone can call and ask the bartender to hold a booth for sipping Italian cocktails such as a negroni, an Aperol spritz, a white-peach-purée bellini, and two house drinks made from Veloce’s own grappa-based liqueur.

Just wanted to say that this spot is definitely worth the sit down. Do yourself a favor and don't just peek in the window. I had a great panini, totally fresh and appealing. Wine list speaks for itself. Handmade classic cocktails, cool vibe. Check it out. I live in the area and will be back for more. Panini's that are on the menu are what a guy like me needs.
