Connected to Frank, the East Village's perennially packed trattoria next door, this mini watering hole is in fact rather hard to distinguish from its better-known neighbor when the mobs of diners waiting to be seated take over. But regulars love it and advise anyone who's interested in imbibing in the bar area to simply work around Frank's dinner crush. Those in the know have figured out that Vera offers a sophisticated and mellow drinking alternative to the neighborhood's otherwise debauched scene.
