The long, thin corner space from the owner of UES’s Vero boasts a wraparound patio, dark wood tables, and votive candles that cast a flattering light off the many mirrors around the room. The panini-heavy menu of the original Vero is bolstered here with mouthwatering additions like braised short-rib soft tacos and veal meatballs, which pair nicely with most selections from the 125-bottle-strong wine cellar. Vero also offers free panini on Mondays (with a drink purchase), a weekend wine school, and the infamous Cookie Monster, a giant chocolate-chip cookie topped with a mountain of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. — Irina Gusin
