Profile

This venue is closed.

There’s something a little schizo about Village 247. Upstairs, the ground-floor restaurant has a country-kitchen vibe: pleasantly rustic, comfortable, candlelit, calm. Downstairs, however, is pure pub: a place to get your pint on while watching the game. Somehow, the dichotomy seems to work, with diners and drinkers scarcely aware of one another. The dining room, often sparsely populated, offers a range of traditional American pub fare: a crab cake appetizer, buttermilk fried chicken, and crispy catfish and chips among the tastier items on the menu. The bar denizens tend to go for the nachos supreme as they raucously enjoy whatever sport is being shown on the large TV or the standup comedy on Friday nights. There’s also a small outdoor area, with heating lamps, which, though pleasant enough, is not nearly as charming as the quaint main room. But Wednesdays bring a flick once the sun goes down, and on Thursdays, an all-you-can-eat barbecue. Village 247 is a reliable neighborhood spot that offers a little bit of something for everyone, but often gets lost amid the more high-profile Smith Street competition.
