Owned by the folks behind Puttanesca and the Film Center Café, Viscaya Lounge is a class act. Not everyone makes it past the velvet rope, but those who do can settle in to three different rooms: an industrial chamber with rough-hewn stone columns and a view of the DJ booth; a boudoir-like lounge with sexy red walls and dim lighting; and a sleek VIP room with taupe banquettes and metal mesh drapes, where the bottle service runs from $250 to $3000. The subterranean bathrooms are chic but communal, so don't be surprised to find members of the opposite sex waiting for a stall. DJs play nightly and attract an upwardly mobile straight crowd in their 20s and 30s, all happy to pay $14 for a cocktail.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Cocktails at the movies, a Monday-night bacchanal, and a great rookie-rap show.
