In loft-laden DUMBO where space is oxymoronically at a premium, this enormous watering hole (located in a former iron foundry) just might be too big for its own good. Upstairs, a restaurant churns out upscale pub grub in view of a projection screen television vying for Brooklyn's biggest. Towards the back, a lounge area (in a refurbished carriage house) sticks to the tried-and-true formula of large abstract paintings over overstuffed leather couches. Downstairs, a raw space christened the UnderWater lounge is geared towards private events. Indeed, judging by its sheer size and unseen crowds, the entire joint seems best suited for Bar Mitzvahs and corporate get-togethers. The location, near the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, can't be beat for cobbled-street charm, and the drinks—nearly a twenty beers on tap and generously poured mixed drinks—reward those who venture in.
