Operated by the same owners of Whiskey Tavern, Whiskey Town (no relation to the seminal pre-solo Ryan Adams project) has plenty of its eponymous liquor on hand: The selection is listed by country (American, Scotch, Irish, Canadian), and there’s a good mix of familiar and unknown labels. But this is definitely not a smoky sipping lounge. Shot-and-a-beer combos come at just $10, beer cans are served in cozies, and “cooler service” is available (that’s six beers for the price of five on ice served in, yep, a cooler). There’s also a D.J. spinning pop-charts stuff Tuesday through Saturday, Trivia Night Mondays, and Pickle Backs. (That’s a shot of whiskey chased by a shot of pickle juice.) It’s gimmicky, but it works.
Best of New York: Fun & Nightlife
Picnics with a view, roller-skating nostalgia, and a party for gay headbangers.
