Profile

Aside from a pile of whiskey barrels, jugs, and other Wild West tchotckes, Whiskey Ward doesn't have any high-concept flourishes to bolster its modern-day saloon motif. The walls are painted a brownish orange, and the only chromatic appeal comes from the gleam of XXX bottles behind the bar. But with an incredible list of scotches and single malt bourbons, and a drink special consisting of a call liquor shot and beer, Whiskey Ward's true theme can be found right in your glass. Bottoms up.

Extra

Whiskey Ward was named after the section of town it stands in. When New York City was divided into wards, the Lower East Side was the 4th ward. There were so many drinking parlors in the area that the section became known as the "whiskey" ward.

The Whiskey Ward is an incredible place for many reasons. The mix of people that are there on any given night is the first sign that this bar has its act together. Here’s the combination that seems to keep everyone that stops in coming back, the Drinks, Great Service, a Killer Jukebox, the DJs, a Pool Table, Nuts Galore, plenty of room, and the feeling that just being in the place makes you a bit cooler, no matter what your definition of cool is. I challenge anyone who visits this gem on the Lower East Side to not enjoy themselves, no matter what their scene is.
