The cheapest glass in this bubbly jazz den—the first of its kind, featuring hundreds of types champagne including rare vintages—starts at over twenty bucks, and the highest bottles are popping to the tune of 28k. Regardless, money is not the issue here; at least, that’s what all the middle-aged (single?) gentlemen are pretending. Just note the playful images of Napoleon stenciled into the wallpaper or the baby grand tempting the next tipsy one-percenter to hammer out a show tune. Or the teeming flower vases, or chiseled waiters dressed in vests and ties. For champagne novices, there are two flights at $65 and $70 that’ll let you try a few vintage bottles if you’re unsure of your brand of bubbly. Several well-mixed champagne cocktails round out the offerings, but at $22 a pop, the menu can get a bit intimidating if you stray away from beer (there’s also a 20 percent tip appended to your bill, so caveat emptor). There’s a ‘businesswear’ dress code, but aim a little higher if you want to get in—and good luck to you if you do.
