The son of a naturalist and herbalist, Horst M. Rechelbacher founded Aveda in 1978, developing one of the first globally conscious beauty brands; the company's “Soil to Bottle” traceability system tracks their sourcing processes to ensure the organic integrity of products and to sustain local farming communities around the world. Like the products it features, Aveda’s chain of beauty boutiques lives and breathes the notion of all-natural. Light earthy tones, hand-carved Javanese display bowls, and live plants create a down-to-earth aura. Products like the Tourmaline Charged skincare line don’t just cleanse and moisturize; they combine minerals with anti-oxidants to energize tired skin. And Personal Blends Pure-Fumes are plant-derived essential oils that can be customized to bring individual "natures"—body, mind, emotions—into balance.
