This haute salon is the only local addition to renowned stylist/photographer Philip Pelusï's hair empire. In an elegant former warehouse space, floor-to-ceiling windows are offset by Colonial décor, dark wood floors, and floral-topped marble pedestals. Tela's stylists have been trained in Pelusi's signature style, which treats hair as a unique, individual-specific "fabric" and creates looks to complement the client's hair type and face shape. A sense of camaraderie prevails here, as stylists and colorists often collaborate over a single patron. Tela offers cuts, color, straightening, extensions, and an array of organic hair "facials" that use watercress, sea kelp, papaya, sage and other fragrant ingredients in Pelosi's own formulations. Clients relish the royal treatment, with Arium's tea and scones served in fine bone china on linen-decked trays. Lunch and high tea are also available, with complementary tapas on Thursday nights to launch the pre-weekend festivities.
BridalPhilip Pelusi’s salon is an elegant gem in the heart of the meatpacking district. Bridal trials for hair and makeup start at $125, and day-of services start at $250. Brides can host a Let Your Hair Down party for their bridesmaids, who will receive discounted services with complimentary wine and cheese.
