Gramercy Park Hotel
|
With its courteous doorman, working fireplace, and velvet-pillowed rooms, the renovated Gramercy Park Hotel strikes a much warmer note than your typical modern boutique property. Even the in-house spa, done up in modernist white, feels more tranquil than minimalist cold. The spa invites the public as well as overnighters to its twin treatment rooms, staffed by aestheticians clad in slim white jeans. The menu is fairly standard: highly customized facials, massages (deep tissue, Swedish, and Thai), body scrubs, and wraps. Facials begin with skin analysis, continue with deep cleansing and extraction, then close with a soothing, aromatic mask. Most treatments are available in guest rooms; products like those from Algodermia, an Italian company, are the type of luxuries you’ll want to take home.
ExtraAerospa and Aerospace are co-owned by New York athlete-entrepreneurs: Michael Olajide Jr., a middleweight boxing champion turned sports-movie consultant, and Leila Fazel, a former Dance Theater of Harlem ballerina who has masterminded spas in Miami, L.A., and London.
