Selma Blair, Laura Innes, and other glitterati have sampled Ajune's mild salt-glow body treatments, but it's the dermatologist-shunning, tenacious Upper East Siders who sign up for the medi-spa's serious healing sessions. The modest storefront center, co-owned by plastic surgeon Dr. Mauro C. Romita, has thirteen small treatment rooms surrounding the Hall of Whispers, but they’re big enough to accommodate the high-tech skin-cleaning machines. Treatments are doled out to both teens with sun damage and sixtysomethings looking to correct past misjudgments with the Ultimate Ajune Glow, a popular choice for those short on time and tall on need. And though the brochure lists this hour-long skin blaster as a mix of glycolic peel, collagen mask, and LED light therapy, the therapist will actually read the beauty-routine questionnaire you filled out in the sitting room and sub in more appropriate-for-your-skin alternatives. Softer options are available for the massage and mini-overhaul crowd, but come here for hard-core clinical cures: chemical peels, laser therapy, and microdermabrasion.
