Considering the drab, unassuming storefront, it's hard to believe Alcone has been a premiere one-stop supply shop for top makeup artists, drag divas and special-effects gurus since 1993. Posters of Broadway shows whose stars have benefited beautifully from Alcone's products line the counter, and the floor-to-ceiling shelves are packed with everything from fake eyelashes to fake blood. While the majority of clients are here to stock up on packs of the signature non-latex sponges (which don't crumble or smell), or to update their RCMA foundation from a spectrum of palettes, there is also the occasional girl-in-the-know filling her cosmetics case for about 30 percent off department store prices. Must-haves for a fabulous face include the Alcone Twissor (a tweezer-scissor-groomer), the Preo (for individual eyelash curling) and Fast Lash, for "that fake lash effect in seconds."  The store also does eyelash extensions. — Tisa Coen
