Anastasia Soare has made a science out of styling eyebrows. After studying esthetics and architecture in her native Romania, Soare immigrated to the West Coast and perfected the art of the Hollywood arch. Her brow-shaping skills drew so many celebrated clients that she has opened more than three dozen outposts, including two New York studios conveniently situated inside the Rockefeller Center and Times Square Sephora stores. Today, Soare is too busy grooming the brows of stars like J.Lo and Oprah to acquire many new customers, but she frequently flies in to educate her East Coast employees. A five-step system helps Soare disciples imitate their master’s magic: First, they measure each client’s bone structure to determine which brow shape is most suitable; then, to ensure symmetry, they apply one of several Soare stencils. Next, techs prune using Soare’s titanium dioxide-based wax; afterwards, they tweeze away strays before finally filling in with shadows and setting the brows with gel. The finished effect is far more polished than a routine waxing.
