Though many salons promise quality facials, pain-free waxing, or precision manicures, how many also serve up complimentary Stouffer’s lasagne? It’s all part of the mi-casa-es-su-casa atmosphere of this small, full-service spot on the street level of a modest brownstone. Owned and operated by a husband-and-wife duo since 2004, the salon puts a big emphasis on relaxing while you wait: In addition to a mini-fridge stocked with drinks and platters of baklava, there’s Internet access, a library of magazines, and an electronic keyboard for impromptu ditties. Diversions aside, At Salon & Beyond offers revitalizing facials using Yon-Ka products and waxing done with Cirepil, a French line of depilatories. Both services, along with massages, are performed in a private back room, while coloring, cutting, straightening, mani-pedis, and makeovers are done at stations throughout the main space. Top-tier products are a staple; several (Pureology, Wella and Trûcco) are available for sale.
